THE ROUTT RECREATION PLEDGE
The Routt Recreation & Conservation Roundtable believes the use and enjoyment of our environment needs to be balanced with conserving our natural resources and wildlife for current and future generations. We also want to maintain the character of the Yampa Valley and continue to provide for exceptional outdoor experiences that residents and visitors value and appreciate.
We urge everyone to read, understand and follow the pledge below so together we can accomplish these goals.

We are all stewards of the great outdoors. I pledge to respect the land, water, other users, and wildlife every time I head into nature.
I Will Love the Place I’m In
- Respect the land and water and their wild, rural character
- Park only in designated spots at trailheads
- Check fire restrictions before I head out and extinguish campfires
I Will Be a People Person
- Share the trail by yielding to uphill traffic, horses, and livestock
- Keep my noise low and let the loudest sounds be from nature
- Look for adventure but Leave No Trace
I Will Protect our Wild Neighbors
- Admire wildlife from at least 75 feet away
- Secure my trash and keep my snacks to myself and my pet close
- Drive carefully and look out for the wildlife that surrounds us
I pledge to respect the rural character of Routt County, its residents, and wild neighbors.
